Types of Braces

 Today, A many type of braces options available  for people. From metal braces to Invisalign aligners, it can be a challenge to decide which choice is the best for your particular needs.

Metal braces

These are the metal brackets and wires that most people picture when they hear the word “braces.”Metal braces are the most common type of braces for orthodontic patients. Today’s metal braces are much smaller, flatter, and more comfortable than in the past.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend into teeth. These braces are translucent.  You have to be very close to someone to be able to see them.Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable.

Self Ligation Brace

Self-ligating brackets reduce friction between brackets and wires. It eliminates the use of ligature tie or ‘o’ ring that is used for securing wire in to the bracket. This advanced bracket system can be of metal or ceramic

Lingual Braces

placed behind the teeth (towards tongue and palate), rather than in front, and therefore offer a great cosmetic alternative for those who want their teeth straightened, without the bracesshowing. The word “lingual” means tongue. Lingual braces are attached to the inside surfaces of the teeth that face the tongue. Now a days it is possible to treat almost all the cases with lingual braces.

Invisible Braces

Invisalign consists of a series of 18 to 30 custom-made, mouth guard-like clear plastic aligners. The aligners are removable and are replaced every 2 weeks. They straighten your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.
